Priority and Giving Way
Did you know that even if you’re going straight down a residential street, you might need to pause to give way to people entering from side streets?
What about if you’re at a four-way intersection with a tractor, car, and bus — who goes first? Or how do you tell the difference between an exit and an intersection?
Make no mistake: priority rules in the Netherlands are tricky.
This course breaks down everything you need to know about priority rules so you can ace your exam and navigate Dutch roads with ease. The point is to understand.
Power training:
Insight
Not only are the questions in the Traffic Insight portion of the exam incredibly diverse, but you need to get 25 out of 28 correct — that’s not much room for error!
Luckily, this Insight Power Training guides you through one of the trickiest CBR theory exam sections.
You'll learn to analyse specific traffic situations, like running off the side of the road, and correctly choose your next steps. The CBR asks these types of questions to determine whether you truly understand the material.

Power training:
Expats with the 30% Ruling
If you’re lucky enough to have the 30% ruling, you can trade your home driver’s licence for a Dutch one! However, that doesn’t mean you’re ready to take to Dutch roads.
Consider the difference in infrastructure. And more importantly: hit the Dutch roads with confidence!
In this Power Training, you’ll speedily learn the most important traffic rules that are likely different to your home country (did someone say “priority at junctions”?).

What happens in the CBR theory exam?
When you arrive at the test centre, you sign in using your reservation number. You should arrive 15 minutes before your exam.
When your reservation number appears on the reception screen, you can enter the testing room. Someone will check your ID card and give you a computer number.
During the 30-minute exam, you will be asked a series of questions across three parts: Hazard Recognition, Traffic Knowledge, and Traffic Insight.
At the end of the exam, you will immediately receive your result on the computer screen. After 15 minutes, you will also receive the results of the exam via email.
What kind of questions will I face in the CBR theory test?
The CBR theory exam for the car uses multiple question types. You might be asked to answer multiple choice or yes/no questions, drag-and-drop numbers to indicate a correct order, fill in a number, or select multiple correct responses for one question.
How long do I need to prepare for the CBR theory test?
Most people need at least one week to learn and process the Dutch road rule information. At Theory College Netherlands, you can finish all of the lesson videos in just over a day. How much you need to practise after that is completely up to you!

As soon as you complete your purchase, you can access the online learning materials, videos, and practice exams.
Do Theory College Netherlands’ exams function the same way as the CBRs?
Yes. Theory College Netherlands uses material directly from the CBR for our practice exams. This means when you walk in for your CBR exam, you already understand the material and processes.
I'm dyslexic. Can I take the CBR exam?
The CBR car driving theory test has an allowance for people with dyslexia to take the exam in 45 minutes instead of 30 minutes. This extra time is divided between the Traffic Knowledge and Traffic Insight sections. The extra time is free for people who have a dyslexia statement by submitting a form within 14 days of your test date.
You can also choose to have the questions read aloud by the computer and listen on earphones.
To prepare for the theory exam, Theory College Netherlands’ unique approach utilises video to teach the main Dutch road rules. A video combines visual and aural information, allowing people with dyslexia to better understand the material.
